Data Analysis

A full-screen analytics workspace on the same simulation engine as the Circuit Builder. Switch here when you want density-matrix intuition, larger charts, or a stepper that is always on regardless of StepByStep in settings.

View tabs

A row of sub-tabs across the top of the analysis area. Only one is visible at a time:

  • Matrix Operations: apply a unitary to a state vector symbolically. Useful for pencil-and-paper checks against circuit output.
  • Density Matrix: inspect ρ as a 3D surface, a scrollable table, or a heatmap-colored table. Toggle Values vs Heatmap for cell coloring. Fullscreen is available on the table view.
  • Probabilities: same computational-basis readout as the bottom panel, sized for analysis.
  • State Vector: complex amplitudes with SymbolicNotation and HideNegligibles from settings.
  • Bar Chart / Pie Chart: distribution snapshots.
  • Bloch Spheres: one sphere per visible qubit (single-qubit reduced state).

Stepper (always available)

Data Analysis includes a timeline stepper even when StepByStep is false for the Circuit Builder. Scrubbing steps through gate columns (and loop slices) and refreshes whichever sub-tab you have open.

When you return to Circuit Builder with step mode enabled globally, the step index is shared. If step mode is off on the builder tab, the analysis stepper still works independently while you stay on Data Analysis.

Density matrix details

The 3D view plots matrix element magnitudes; hover for exact values. Switch to Table for the full ρ grid with optional heatmap coloring (magnitude mapped to color). Large registers can take a moment to render; the table view supports fullscreen for screenshots.

Density-matrix playback can animate ρ across steps when you scrub the timeline (same underlying state as probabilities, different presentation).

When to use this tab

Stay on Circuit Builder for editing and layout. Open Data Analysis when you are debugging entanglement, comparing ρ before and after a gate column, or presenting results in a lecture-friendly layout. For NMR-specific sample and field controls, see NMR Analysis.
